Candidates for mayor Mike Kramer and Jerry Brown both have strong opinions about how to help Lexington attract residents, businesses, and improve the overall quality of life.

They expressed some of their ideas about how to get there during Wednesday’s meeting of the Lexington Rotary Club.

The former Superintendent of Wentworth Military Academy, Brown told Rotarians that Lexington “needs to do the small things in a great way” if the city hopes to move forward in a positive direction.

Brown said teamwork and leadership will be critical.

“We must build a team that starts with the City Council, City Administrator, and Mayor to provide some leadership to our community,” said Brown. “We also need to funnel our local organizations into this massive team effort.”

Brown added that the city needs to do a better job of communicating with the public, adding that getting a city Web site up and running is critical. He also said long-term strategic planning on the part of city leaders will be a key to Lexington’s future.
