Lexington officials were set to meet with engineers on Wednesday to discuss plans for a street and drainage improvement project in a section of the city, said Street Department Supervisor Mark Wallace.
Last August, Lexington was awarded a $242,937 public needs Community Development Block Grant to fund the upgrades. The project focuses on an area south of Franklin Avenue from 8th Street to 13 Highway.
The residential area is currently served by deteriorated roadways and an almost nonexistent drainage system. The drainage problem is causing severe erosion of nearby streets, ditches and yards.
Full story is in the March 5 issue of The Lexington News.
