The Wellington-Napoleon boys basketball got back to its old self Tuesday night. Well-Nap whipped eight-seeded Polo 80-35 in the opener at the Class 2 District 15 Tournament in Sweet Springs.

“We got off to a fast start at the beginning of the game,” said W-N head coach Todd Shannon. “Our defensive intensity was better and we created some turnovers with our pressure defense.”

The Tigers only held a slim 10-6 lead before W-N’s offense exploded. W-N ended the first quarter on a 15-0 run, taking a 25-6 lead and cruising from there.

Well-Nap raced out to a 49-21 half time advantage and finished off Polo with a 22-8 third quarter run.

Blake Seitz paced W-N with 27 points. Kent Hendrix put in 18 points and Brandon Davis had nine points in the win.

W-N made 37 field goals in the win and made five of seven free throws on the night.

Dalton Rardon paced the Panthers (4-15) with 13 points.
