• Carrollton’s Jacob Mercer finished third at the National Collegiate Wrestling Association’s Southwest Conference Championships in Austin, Texas this past weekend and advanced to the national wrestling tournament in Hampton, Va. March 10-13.
Mercer is wrestling at 149 pounds for Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville. He was also named the “Most Outstanding Wrestler” for the tournament.
• The Concordia baseball team is looking to get back to Kauffman Stadium this spring. The Orioles have started to sell discounted tickets for the 2010 Royals home games. Concordia needs to sell 1,000 tickets to take part in the Frank White Classic against either Crest Ridge, Sweet Springs or Macon at “The K.”
• St. Paul Lutheran midfielder Louisa Mehl signed a letter of intent to play soccer at Concordia University in Seward, Neb.
