UM Extension holds annual meeting

Lafayette County University of Missouri Extension Council conducted their annual meeting on Feb. 25 at the Fairground Park Community Building at Higginsville, with Phil Varner, Council Vice Chairman presiding. 

Special guests for the evening included Presiding Commissioner Jim Strodtman; County Commissioner Gil Rector; Janet Daubendiek and Donna Glover Brown, Leader Honor Roll recipients, and Al Black, University of Missouri Extension West Central Region Director.

The newly-elected and appointed Extension Council members were introduced:  Jeff Kopp, Concordia; Josh Steffens, Lexington; Olin Struchtemeyer, Mayview; and Martha Wyssmann, Alma.   Council members Gayle Copenhaver and Brandon Fahrmeier, Lexington; and Vickie Garland, Odessa; were elected to a second two-year term.  Other current members include Lois Brandt, Concordia; Clyde Burchett and Christa Bell, Higginsville; Debbie Lueck, Alma; Joe Piepmeier, Wellington; and Phil Varner, Odessa. Appointed council members included Joyce Haynes, Higginsville, representing the City of Higginsville; Gil Rector, representing the Lafayette County Commission; and Lori Rockhill-Gray, representing Lafayette County Farm Bureau.

Lynda Johnson, County Program Director, thanked Council members for leadership and service on the Extension Council and support of University of Missouri Extension programs. Johnson recognized outgoing members including Kathy Bredehoeft, Alma; Mark Heins, Concordia; Tim Lichte, Lexington; and Glenn Wagner, Odessa. Heins and Lichte were recognized as outgoing Council officers.
