Parents As Teachers has announced that Early Childhood Screenings will be held March 25 from 2-5 p.m. and March 26 from 8:15 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Lexington.

This is a free screening for all children in the Lexington/Hardin-Central school districts from 6 months to 5 years of age who are not attending kindergarten next year.

This screening gives the parent a valuable assessment of their child, helping to ensure that all the milestones of development are met according to the child’s age.

A hearing and vision screening will be assessed. The Lion’s Eye Foundation will also be on hand to screen your child’s eyes with an amblyopia screening; this will detect children at risk for blurred vision or lazy eye.

A speech therapist will screen your child’s speech and a nurse will be available to check weight, height and immunizations.

Call the R-5 district board building at 259-4369 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to set up an appointment. Please bring your child’s immunization records.
