James S. Tye, 86, Odessa, died Monday, Feb. 15, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.

He was born April 17, 1923 in Odessa, the son of Pallas Love Tye and Hattie Delona (Cantwell) Tye.

He married Lorna Beatrice Smith in Kansas City on July 20, 1947. She survivives of the home.

He was a millwright at General Motors Leeds Plant in Kansas City, retiring in 1981 after 30 years. He is a member of Long Branch Baptist Church and a WWII Veteran, serving in the Navy. He graduated from Farmers High School.

He was preceded in death by two brothers Doyle “Jack” Tye and Joel “Joe” Tye and one sister Louie Jane Laun.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters: Lana Davis of the home and Deanna Euker, Columbia, Ill; two sons, Jim Tye and wife Barbara of Warrensburg and Bill Tye and wife Lori of Blue Springs; one brother, Leroy Tye and wife Hazel, Higginsville; two sisters, Emma Hobbs, and Sue Miller and husband Clyde, Odessa; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
