August Charles Fleischmann, 88, Higginsville, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010 at the Lutheran Nursing Home in Concordia.
He was born July 13, 1921 in Koenig, to Henry George and Annie Katherine (Bentlage) Fleischmann.
He married Juliet “Judy” Fairchild at the Baptist Parsonage in Lexington, on July 13, 1945.
He was preceded in death by four siblings: Louis and Henry Fleischmann, Gusta Schirmer and baby Nora.
He joined the Army in 1942 and served until 1946, attaining a rank of Tech-4. After the war he worked for Porter Chevrolet in Higginsville and worked at Remington Arms-Lake City Plant from 1951-1958. From 1958-1963 he ran his own business known as Fleischmann’s Service dealing in Mobil products. He sold that business and returned to Remington Arms, retiring in 1983.
